Transfer of Land Authorised by Andrew Wilson
This document is in Latin so a full tranion has not been made. King James VI of Scotland and I of England is on the throne. It concerns land owned by Robert Richardson, sailor and Burgess of Burntisland (spelling Brintiland) , that he inherited from his late father, also Robert Richardson, sailor. The land is on the west of Burntisland between the land of John Boswell (previously owned by Isabella Little) on the east and John Durie (previously owned by Henry Durie) on the west, and the common way to the sea mill on the north and the common way to [ ] on the south. The land is being tranferred (sold?) to Grisel Greiff (Robert’s wife?). The Baillie appointed to oversee the transfer is William Phin. Janet Ged, the widow of Robert Richardson senior, is to be allowed to stay in the west part of the property. The deed is witnessed by Richard Roe/Ros, (Baillie of Burntisland), John Kent, Robert Thomson, Andrew Watson, James [Ramsay] Thomas Crodbie, John Colzar, John Brown (all Burgesses of Burntisland), Adam Thomson in Humbie (between Burntisland & Aberdour); Henry Phin & John Elder (servants) and/of? George Martin.
Although his title is not given in this deed, other documents from 1584 and 1590 confirm that Andrew Wilson was a Notary Public and Town Clerk.
